The Superior Court of Guam on Friday welcomed its seventh judge, Dana Gutierrez, during an official investiture ceremony at the Guam Judicial Center.

Gutierrez was picked by Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero last November after the transfer of Judge Michael Bordallo to the US District Court.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Philip Carbullido welcomed her appointment and said that now, more than ever, continuing court operations requires a full staff of Superior Court judges to fulfill the court’s obligations.

Gutierrez is set to assist with the trial courts which have been backlogged by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Gutierrez also previously served as the Director of Policy, Planning, and Community Relations for the Judiciary from 2015 to 2016. Most recently, she was an attorney with the law firm of Calvo Fisher & Jacob.
