For almost 50 years Roe v. Wade was a nationwide law for the constitutional right to abortion.
in 1973 Roe V. Wade was a legal case brought forth by the Supreme Court that was ruled 7 – 2 stating that unduly restrictive state regulation of abortion is unconstitutional.
According to ABC News Digital Reporter Devin Dwyer, the court ruled 5 – 4 in favor of the overruling.
In an article written by the GMA Team on ABC News, they stated, ” The Supreme Court’s ruling Friday to overturn Roe v. Wade sent shockwaves throughout the country as it gave power back to states to decide whether or not abortion is legal. Instead of being a constitutionally protected federal right, abortion access will now come down to where a person lives across the United States.”
