A man who attempted to smuggle 27 grams of ice into the island through the postal service has a history of run ins with the law for drugs.
Guam – Eli Charfauros Quintanilla, was arrested last week, after a hotel employee at Garden Villa Hotel contacted authorities about a package which was addressed to Quintanilla which may have contained drugs. According to court documents Quintanilla had instructed the hotel staff to contact him when his packaged arrived. After receiving the package, the staff noticed that a portion of the package was torn, allowing employees to see that the contents were wrapped in duct tape. Their suspicions were correct as GPD confirmed that the package contained 27 grams of ice.
The court complaint states that Quintanilla was found checked in to another hotel nearby with what appeared to be a suspected drug ledger.
The suspected smuggler, however is no stranger to the law as court documents indicate that he was on Pre-trial release and a bench warrant was issued in another case involving possession of a scheduled two controlled substance as a third-degree felony.
In this case Quintanilla, has been charged with Importation of a scheduled two controlled substance, conspiracy to import a scheduled two substance, conspiracy to possess a scheduled two controlled substance with intent to deliver, attempted possession of a scheduled two controlled substance with intent to deliver and commission off a felony while on pre-trial release.
