“The Play Days encourage fun first and skills later,”
TAMUNING, GUAM – Tennis Academy of Guam is bringing back its U12 Tennis Play Day Program with support by the Guam National Tennis Federation on Saturdays beginning Jan. 28 at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort tennis courts. All youth born between 2005 and 2010 are invited to participate in the weekly program, free of charge. The Spring 2017 program begins at 8 a.m. Saturday and continues through to Mar. 18. “After two years working with players at the U8 to U12 age divisions, we found that organizing Play Days are the most successful method of introducing tennis to kids,” said Joe Cepeda, TAG coach. “The Play Days encourage fun first and skills later, so kids enjoy the sport first and eventually master techniques and skills through the guidance of certified coaches to succeed in the sport.”
To keep the sport fun, players use a shorter court format. Equipment provided during each Play Day are youth size rackets of varying sizes based on the player’s age and low-compression tennis balls, which are ideal for youth players. Players will be divided into U8, U10, and U12 age divisions.
