Guam- With the holidays around the corner basketball youths know its HoopFest time and the action takes place at Tamuning Gym. Opening games are scheduled for November 19 with opening tip-off at 5pm. This year’s tournament will host 50 teams ages 6 to 21 years old that include the Rollers Basketball Club who will be participating from Saipan. “This will be our first time to play in the annual TakeCare HoopFest after hearing so much about its success. The kids are so excited and can’t wait to get to Guam to play for the 10 day event,” said club coordinator and Head Coach Joe Diaz via telephone.
The HoopFest games will run every day ending on November 28th on Championship game day. Awards will be presented after each championship game to each division first, second, MVP and Bank of Guam top scorer winners. TakeCare continues supporting organized sports as a positive choice in staying physically fit and keeping Guam youths off the streets.
Co-presenter FHP collaborating with support sponsors Bank of Guam, 76 Circle K, Pacific Daily News, Shimbros, Sagua Managu, Office of the Mayor for Tamuning-Tumon-Harmon, ACAS and Aloha Maid the official tournament natural juice have made this event what it is each year.
This year’s divisions include Turkey Hop (8 under coed) exhibition games; Turkey Trot (10 under coed); Turkey Dash (12 under coed); Turkey Run A (14 under coed advance), Turkey Run B (14 under coed developmental), Turkey Fly A (16 under boys advance), Turkey Shoot A (18 under boys advance), Turkey Fly & Shoot B (16 to 18 under coed) and the anticipated Turkey Blast Division (21 under boys advance).
Tournament will use a double elimination format with a winner take all at the championship game for teams with less then 2 losses.
