Guam – The TakeCare Foundation awarded a $3,000 grant to the Guam Volleyball Federation on Monday, November 19, 2012. The grant will be used partially fund the 2013 All-Island Middle School Volleyball Tournament.
According to Sandra Low, Guam Volleyball Federation president, “The public and private middle school volleyball teams currently compete in separate leagues and through the years, the desire for an ‘all-island’ tournament has been expressed by all respective coaches.”
“TakeCare’s management and employees encourage living active and healthy lifestyles for both adults and our youth. Our Foundation felt that this program will enhance the health and wellness of our community at large,” said Sylvia Duenas, TakeCare Foundation chairperson. “We anticipate the success of the tournament and hope that other organizations will support the Guam Volleyball Federation and its tournaments for years to come.”

The Foundation is comprised of employees of TakeCare Insurance and the FHP Health Center who are devoted to charitable and educational causes that enhance the health, wellness and welfare of individuals, families and our community. It is unique because it is employee-driven. TakeCare and FHP employees play a major role in assisting with the contributions and the selection process. Through their kind donations, recipients of the grant are able to fulfill their mission and goals that in turn benefit the entire community.
