TakeCare Foundation Supports Elderly at Catholic Social Service

(December 6, 2013) – Barrigada, Guam. TakeCare Foundation awarded $5,000.00 to Catholic Social Service on Tuesday, November 26, 2014, for two coin-operated washer and dryer for the LIHENG Elderly Housing complex in Barrigada.

“The TakeCare Foundation is grateful for the opportunity to support the LIHENG Elderly Housing Units with the purchase of the laundry machines,” said Carlene Rios, TakeCare Foundation Chairperson. “This donation is in line with the Foundation’s mission to enhance the welfare of individuals and families in our community.”

Currently, tenants use old equipment or transport their laundry offsite. The TakeCare Foundation grant will enable tenants to access laundry service at their convenience on site.

“TakeCare has always been a strong supporter of our programs and clients,” stated Diana Calvo, Catholic Social Service Executive Director. “As a non-profit organization we are always looking at funding options, and it’s great to know that the TakeCare Foundation is there to help.”

The LIHENG Elderly Housing complex is home to ten tenants who are 60 years and older and who fall within 65% of the Area Median Income.

“100% of the proceeds of the grant will go towards purchasing the laundry machines and updating plumbing in the laundry room,” Calvo said.
