Guam – In the all-Saito final of the Men’s Open singles division of the 2012 Quality Cup tennis tournament, it was younger brother Takuya who finished the victor with a 6-0, 7-6(3) win today at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa tennis courts.

Yusuke Saito, an intern at Alupang Beach Club from Japan, invited his brother, Takuya, to play in the tennis tournament while in Guam on vacation. Takuya Saito is on an extended break from school and will soon graduate from high school.

Takuya Saito also takes home the championship award in the Men’s 4.5 singles division with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Joshua Cepeda, who defeated fellow junior player Alfred Chan in the semifinals. Earlier in the day, Saito was tested by Emil Christian Penafiel in the semifinals, but was able to muster a 7-5, 6-0 win over Guam’s junior champion to set up the final with Cepeda.

The Saito brothers intend to team up for the tournament’s doubles competition, scheduled to begin in two weeks.

In other matches, Charlayne Espinosa cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 win over Camdyn Nadler to claim the Women’s Open crown. No. 2 seed Nadler earlier upset the No. 1-seeded Espinosa, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3, for the Women’s 4.0 division title.
