It appears that the dry heat may have set the perfect conditions for a blaze to erupt, this time in the southern village of Talofofo.

The grass fire was reported on Route 4 and Chalan Mapao, Talofofo just before noon.

According to GFD Spokeswoman Cherika Chargualaf, multiple fire engine units were called to the scene to battle the blaze.

An hour after their arrival, Chalan Mapao road was closed to the public, as approximately four hectares of land were in flames.

Chargualaf says that GFD is closely monitoring the fire and the nearby homes.

As of 2:30 p.m. Thursday, no homes were evacuated.
