Guam – Today is the last day of school for the Guam Department of Education!

Students, teachers and employees wrapped up another school year. GDOE Superintendent Jon Fernandez says he’s thankful for all the hard work the teachers and staff put into making this a successful year! And for students, Fernandez says have a safe and restful summer! For the last day of school, Tamuning Elementary School held their annual send off. Teachers walked their students out to the buses and held a wave as the buses drove away. We spoke with one student who already has plans for a productive summer.

Third Grader Stefen says, “My plans for vacation will be playing basketball, piano, take care of my baby, read books, going on vacation, there are more things to do. I love 3rd grade and I love school. I’ll continue to go there every single day.”

Since today was the last day of school, GDOE employees and FESTPAC volunteers will be busy preparing eight of the schools for the incoming delegates. High school graduations are also scheduled throughout the week.

  1. This is the time of year that many parents get depressed and frustrated. Who’s going to babysit their kids now?
