Guam – The Tamuning Typhoons Basketball Club is now in condition of Readiness for it’s 2011 Season! The first official day of practice starts Friday, April 15 at Tamuning Gym for new and returning club members.
Now in its 7th year the Typhoons club continue to support its youth and adult members in the sport of basketball.
After a three month break the Typhoons basketball club is ready and eager to begin it’s preparation for another exciting season.
Typhoon members can look forward to weekly practice sessions and it’s participation in the annual TakeCare Community Youth Basketball events. Upcoming events scheduled is the annual basketball clinic on Saturday, May 30th followed by the much anticipated 7th annual TakeCare SummerJam Basketball
Tournament June 24th to August 14th, and ending the season with the 7th annual TakeCare Thanksgiving HoopFest Youth Basketball Tournament November 28th to December 11th.
Other benefits received for being a 2011 club member are discounted rates for the second annual “Dad and Me” 5k Fun/Run on June 19th and ACAS Summer Break Basketball Camp at Tamuning Gym that begins June 6th and runs thru July 22nd.
This year the Typhoons junior traveling 14U teams will be competing in Cairns, Australia July 24 to August 2. Tryout dates for members are scheduled for April 19, 20 and 21 at Tamuning Gym 4-6pm.
Club practice sessions are held on Wednesday and Fridays for the following age groups:
5 to 10 year olds – Friday, 5 to 6:30pm
11 to 14 year olds – Friday, 6:30 to 8pm
15 to 18 year olds – 5 to 6:30pm
19 to 25 year olds – 6:30 to 8pm
Membership dues for new applicants and renewals are $100 per member for the nine month season. New members must provide a copy of birth certificate or passport at registration time. Uniform cost is $50. Fittings and orders will be taken at the time of registration.
