Teen minors taken into custody for car theft

The Guam Police Department has taken two minors into custody for alleged auto theft.

According to preliminary police reports, during the early morning hours of Monday, Oct. 7, officers entertained a stolen vehicle complaint in Yona. An All-Points Bulletin was later released relative to the description of the stolen car.

During the course of the day, officers patrolling in the Inarajan area, spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

According to GPD, the operator of the stolen vehicle refused to comply and a pursuit ensued during which officers assigned to the Hagatna Precinct command provided assistance.

During the course of the pursuit, the stolen vehicle collided with another vehicle while on Route 10 Vietnam Veterans Highway in Barrigada.

Officers were able to end the pursuit within the Harmon Industrial Park area.

Officers later took into custody a 15-year-old male minor for the following offenses: theft of a motor vehicle; eluding a police officer, and guilt established by complicity.

A 16-year-old male minor was also taken into custody for the following offenses: theft by receiving; reckless driving; eluding a police officer; resisting arrest; no driver’s license and leaving the scene of a crash.

Both minors were later confined at the Department of Youth Affairs. This case has been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution.
