Tennis Court Improvements made for the Northern Regional Sports Complex

Good news for tennis players as new improvements for the tennis court areas at the Northern Regional Sports Complex were completed.

PNC’s Khyomara Santana has more on the story…

The new parking lot replaces the previously unsafe muddy open area, known to some patrons as an unofficial parking space for the tennis court.

The $146,500 worth of improvements were funded through the Governor’s Education Assistance and Youth Empowerment Grant Program after the Guam National Tennis Federation (GNTF) requested a grant for renovations.

The grant includes the grading, resurfacing, and refurbishing of the parking lot, as well as the installation of stairs and safety railings that expanded the available space inside the court complex.

The improvement’s completion was commemorated during a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday, where Torgun Smith, president of the Tennis Federation told PNC that the project elevated the level of experience of the facilities.

As for Governor Lou Leon Guerrero’s comments, the investments on sports facilities and recreational spaces will continue, as she said, “I would like for our community to have really good professional facilities, for our children, for sports and this is one way to do that.”
