The Roadwork Ahead for the Week of 9/6 – 9/12

Guam – The Department of Public Works has released the following list of traffic construction cites that may cause you delays in the week ahead. Route 1 in Yigo
Construction work continues on Marine Corps Drive at the intersection with Wusstig Road.  Both northbound and southbound travel lanes are restricted to one lane on Marine Corps Drive.  Motorists are advised to merge into the single lane of traffic well in advance of the construction area.  Motorists should anticipate delays and increased travel time due to these lane restrictions.

Route 25 Alageta Road
A portion of Alageta Road has had the bottom section of pavement placed between Uhang Street and Kalamasa Drive.  Even though this portion of Alageta Road has been paved, traffic is still restricted to one lane for motorists traveling from Route 16 to Route 26.  Traffic heading towards the airport will still need to use the detours on Kalamasa Street and Ahau Street.  Motorists are requested to reduce their speeds on the local streets and follow the detour and construction signs.

Construction work for the drainage improvements is underway between Kalamasa Drive and Route 26.  Motorists are advised that this section of the road is closed to all but local traffic.

Route 4 from McDonalds to Route 10
Traffic has been moved to the newly completed portions of Route 4 at the Tutujan (Sinajana) intersection.  Travel lanes are still restricted to one lane in each direction for traffic heading to and from Hagatna.  Motorists are requested to merge early into the thru lanes and follow the construction signs for the shifting travel lanes.  Motorists should anticipate delays and increased travel time due to this construction.  This section of Route 4 is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.

Route 8/10/16 (Tri-Intersection)
Roadway excavation necessary for the new concrete pavement continues on the Tiyan side of Route 8 and Route 16.  Travel lanes continue to be restricted to one lane for traffic heading toward Hagatna and Harmon.  Motorists should anticipate delays and increased travel time while this section of the roadway is under construction.

Construction work continues on the Route 10 leg of the Tri-Intersection.  Motorists heading to and from Mangilao should anticipate delays and increased travel time due to the lane restrictions necessary for this construction.

Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes when traveling cross island.


Route 16 (Barrigada Post Office Intersection)

The traffic barriers have been removed from the center of Route 16 at the Barrigada Post Office and travel lanes have been restored to near normal conditions.  Motorists are advised that construction work is still to be fully completed in the center of the road are requested to follow the construction signs and reduce their speeds in the construction area.
