Guam  – The Guam Department of  Public Works has released the following list of road construction projects that may cause traffic delays in the week ahead.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY for Monday April 7 – Sunday April 13 

Route 1/ 8 (Hagåtña Bridges)
Motorists traveling through this area are advised to be aware of new lane configurations, lane shifts and detours:

Marine Corps Drive between Route 4 and Route 8 is reduced to two lanes in each direction during daytime hours.

A lane shift of the Marine Corps Drive northbound lane between Route 4 and 8 is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, to facilitate construction of the median.

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through construction zones and observe all posted speed limit and construction signs. Alternative routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.

Route 17, Phase 2A
Motorists traveling through this area are advised to be aware of new lane configurations, lane shifts and detours:

Two-way traffic will be intermittently reduced to a flagger controlled one lane, one-way traffic for surveying and saw cutting.

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and observe all posted speed limit, construction signs, and flagmen. Alternative routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.

Route 4 Ylig Bridge (Yona)
Construction work at the Ylig Bridge continues this week with installation of traffic signs and miscellaneous roadside works. The activities may change as the weather or other conditions may permit.

Lane closures and traffic detours may be required for the safety of motorists traveling in the area. Motorists should observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs.

Route 1 Asan & Aguada Bridges Rehabilitation
The contractor’s survey crews will be working at site this week. Motorists should observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs and expect intermittent traffic delays during the day and possible lane closures at the Aguada or Asan Bridges.

Route 4 Togcha River to Ipan Beach Park
Drivers should expect two way traffic to be reduced to a flagger controlled one lane, one-way traffic during daytime road construction operations. Motorists should observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs and expect intermittent traffic delays and lane closures during the day as the contractor is working.

Route 4, Agfayan Bridge Replacement (Inarajan)
The contractor is working at the Agfayan Bridge located south of the Inarajan pier (facing Bear Rock). Motorists should observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs and expect intermittent traffic delays during the day. Traffic control is installed and there is a one lane closure at this time.

Pale San Vitores, Tumon
North and south bound lanes between the GVB/Proa intersection to the Hilton intersection will be closed between 1 a.m. through 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 13.

Additionally, from 1:30 a.m. through 11 a.m., Pale San Vitores from the GVB/Proa intersection to the JFK/Marriott intersection will be closed.

These lane closures are necessary for the safety or motorists and runners as the Guam International Marathon takes place on Sunday morning. Motorists are advised to avoid the area or take alternative routes.

Marine Corps Drive (Southbound from Tamuning through Piti)
Motorists traveling through this area are advised to be aware of lane closures between 1 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 13:

Two southbound lanes from the Kmart intersection through the Route 8 intersection in Hagåtña

All southbound lanes between Route 8 intersection in Hagåtña through Route 6 in Adelup (Veteran’s cemetery)

The outer southbound lane from the Veteran’s cemetery in Adelup to Sumay (T. Stell Newman Visitor Center)

These lane closures are necessary for the safety or motorists and runners as the Guam International Marathon takes place on Sunday morning. Motorists are asked to be mindful of the runners’ lanes and are advised to avoid the area or take alternative routes
