Guam – The Guam Department of Public Works has released the following list of road construction projects that may cause traffic delays in the week ahead.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR JANUARY 21 – 27
Route 1/ 8 (Hagåtña Bridges)
Route 1 between Routes 4 and 8 will continue to be restricted to four travel lanes as the replacement of the Hagåtña Bridge continues. Motorists traveling through this area are advised to be aware of lane shifts and detours and should expect travel delays during peak periods in the mornings and evenings. Alternative routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged. Motorists turning from Route 1 onto Route 8 are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zone for the first phase of the Route 8 widening and intersection expansion.
Route 1/11 (Port Authority Road)
Lane shifts and detours will remain in place through Monday, January 21 on Route 1 near the Route 1 / Route 11 intersection. The northbound lanes will be split around the work zone as the contractor performs pavement resurfacing operations.
Lane shifts will remain in place through Monday, January 21 on Route 11 just west of the Route 1 / Route 11 intersection while contractors finish asphalt paving operations on a short section of the westbound lane of Route 11.
Drivers can expect to encounter lane shifts at various locations along Route 11 throughout the week while contractors install underground cables at manholes.
Beginning January 21 through January 23, drivers can expect to encounter lane shifts along Route 11 while contractors apply permanent pavement markings along the roadway.
Route 4 Ylig Bridge (Yona)
Construction work on the bridge abutments on the Route 4 Ylig Bridge continues this week. Due to the proximity of the construction work to travel lanes, intermittent traffic delays and lane closures may be required for the safety of motorists traveling in the area. The temporary bridge and detour remains open to traffic with a posted 15 MPH speed limit. Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs.
Route 4 (Pago Bay to Route 17)
Motorists may experience temporary lane shifts and minor delays when traveling through this area and are asked to use caution and observe all construction signs and posted speed limits. Please be aware of safety personnel directing traffic as construction equipment moves across the road or trucks enter or exit the job site.
Route 17 Cross Island Road (Talofofo)
Work continues on Route 17 as the contractor completes minor works along the roadway. Motorists may experience temporary lane shifts and minor delays when traveling through this area and are asked to use caution and observe all construction signs and posted speed limits.
Taleyfak Spanish Bridge (Agat)
Motorists traveling in this area can expect brief delays while the contractor continues to work in this area. Please be aware of safety personnel directing traffic as construction equipment moves across the road or trucks enter or exit the job site.
