Guam – The Guam Department of Public Works has released the following list of road construction projects that may cause traffic delays in the week ahead.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR FEBRUARY 4 – 10
Route 1/ 8 (Hagåtña Bridges)
Route 1 between Routes 4 and 8 will be restricted to four travel lanes as the replacement of the Hagåtña Bridge continues. Motorists traveling through this area are advised to be aware of lane shifts and detours and should expect travel delays during peak periods in the mornings and evenings. Alternative routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged. Motorists turning from Route 1 onto Route 8 are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zone for the first phase of the Route 8 widening and intersection expansion.
Route 1/11 (Port Authority Road)
Drivers on Routes 1 and 11, as well as in the intersection, can expect lane shifts through Saturday, February 9 as the contractor installs underground cable, permanent pavement markings and guard rails.
Route 4 (Pago Bay to Route 17)
Motorists may experience temporary lane shifts and minor delays when traveling through this area and are asked to use caution and observe all construction signs and posted speed limits. Please be aware of safety personnel directing traffic as construction equipment moves across the road or trucks enter or exit the job site.
One lane closure will happen near Pago Bay from 9 a.m. on Saturday January 26, through noon on Sunday, January 27. The lane closure is necessary while the contractor paves and installs drainage pipes as part of the Route 4 Roadway Reconstruction project.
The contractor will be working through Saturday night so motorists need to be extra cautious as they travel this area.
Route 4 (Pago Bay to Route 17)
Motorists may experience temporary lane shifts and minor delays when traveling through this area and are asked to use caution and observe all construction signs and posted speed limits. Please be aware of safety personnel directing traffic as construction equipment moves across the road or trucks enter or exit the job site.
Route 17 Cross Island Road (Talofofo)
Work continues on Route 17 as the contractor completes minor works along the roadway. Motorists may experience temporary lane shifts and minor delays when traveling through this area and are asked to use caution and observe all construction signs and posted speed limits.
Taleyfak Spanish Bridge (Agat)
Motorists traveling in this area can expect brief delays while the contractor continues to work in this area. Please be aware of safety personnel directing traffic as construction equipment moves across the road or trucks enter or exit the job site.
