Guam – The Guam Department of Public Works has released the following list of road construction projects that may cause traffic delays in the week ahead.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY: May 26 – June 3
North Guam Signalization (Yigo)
Contractors will be paving at the Wusstig Road intersection in Yigo beginning tomorrow, May 26, and next Saturday, June 2. Throughout next week, the contractors will be striping the intersection as well. Temporary lane shifts can be expected and motorists are asked to proceed with caution and observe all traffic control signs posted along the construction area.
Route 1/ 8 (Hagåtña Bridges)
Southbound lanes on Marine Drive between Route 8 and Route 4 have been shifted to the east side of the center median area adjacent to the north bound lanes.
Signage as well as safety and traffic personnel are in place to ensure the safety of construction crews and travelers through the construction area. Motorists are advised to expect some delays during peak travel hours in the mornings and evenings.
Route 1 (Anigua)
The contractor will be paving on Route 1 in Anigua (near Jackson’s Carwash) on Saturday, May 26 from 6 a.m. through 5 p.m. Temporary lane shifts can be expected and motorists are asked to proceed with caution.
Route 1/11 (Port Authority Road)
Lane shifts for motorists traveling southbound on Marine Corps Drive at the Port Authority Road Intersection area are in currently in effect. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and to obey all traffic signs in the area.
Route 4 Togcha and Talofofo Bridges (Talofofo and Inarajan)
Drivers traveling on Route 4 at Talofofo Bridge are advised that traffic continues to be restricted to one lane. Temporary traffic lights are in place with timing monitored and adjusted to minimize delays. Increased travel time and short delays should be anticipated while driving through this construction zone.
The Togcha Bridge is open to two-lane traffic, however, motorists are advised that construction activities will continue on and around the bridge for several more weeks as the remaining work items are completed. Please be alert for construction activities in this area.
Route 4 Ylig Bridge (Yona)
The construction of piers on the Route 4 Ylig Bridge continues this week. Due to the proximity of the construction work to travel lanes, intermittent traffic delays and lane closures will be required for the safety of motorists traveling in the area. The temporary bridge and detour remains open to traffic with a posted 15 MPH speed limit.
Route 7A (Hagåtña)
Route 7A is open to two-way traffic however this area remains an active construction zone. Motorists are asked to proceed with caution and obey all traffic control signs along the site.
Route 8/10/16 (Tri-Intersection)
Motorists traveling in the Tri-Intersection area are advised to expect temporary lane closures during non-peak hours while permanent pavement markings are installed and construction crews complete work on the lane shoulders.
Route 16 GMF (Post Office)
Route 16 GMF / Guam Army National Guam intersection is open to traffic. However construction activity is expected to continue in this area while the contractor completes work on this project.
Route 17 (Talofofo)
Placement of pavement on a 1,200-foot section of Route 17 starting about 2,000 feet from the Route 4 intersection is scheduled on Route 17 between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:30 PM, weather permitting. Traffic will be reduced to one lane during this operation.
