Guam – The Guam Department of Public Works has released the following list of road construction projects that may cause traffic delays in the week ahead.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR Saturday May 3 – Sunday May 11
ROUTE 1/8 (Hagåtña Bridges) Motorists traveling through this area are advised to be aware of new lane configurations, lane shifts and detours:
Marine Corps Drive between Route 4 and Route 8 is reduced to two lanes in each direction during daytime hours.
In preparation for asphalt paving, Route 1, Route 8, and Route 4 will be reduced to one lane in each direction nightly between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. from Monday, May 5 through Monday, May 19 in the following areas:
Route 1 between Chamorro Village and Mitsubishi Dealer.
Route 1 southbound left turn lane onto Route 8.
Route 8 between Marine Corps Drive and Chalan Santo Papa.
Route 4 between Marine Corps Drive and Chalan Santo Papa.
Additionally, paving operation for the Agana Bridge project will commence this weekend, May 3 and 4, from 4 a.m. through 6 p.m. The following roads will be affected:
Route 4 northbound: Traffic heading to Agat will be directed to turn left at the Route 1 intersection;
Route 1 northbound: Traffic will be reduced to one lane between Chamorro Village and Citibank;
Route 1 southbound: Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a major lane shift between Citibank and Chamorro Village. Traffic heading toward Sinajana will be directed to turn left at the Route 4 intersection;
Route 8 westbound: Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a major lane shift between Chalan Santo Papa and Route 1;
Route 8 eastbound: Traffic will be reduced one lane between Route 1 and Chalan Santo Papa;
Motorists are advised to reduce speed and proceed with caution through the construction zone. Taking alternative routes and/or adjust drive times are encouraged.
ROUTE 17, PHASE 2A Motorists traveling through this area are advised to be aware of new lane configurations, lane shifts and detours:
Two-way traffic will be intermittently reduced to a flagger controlled one-lane, one-way traffic for surveying and saw cutting.
Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and observe all posted speed limit, construction signs, and flagmen. Alternative routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.
ROUTE 4, YLIG BRIDGE (Yona) Construction work at the Ylig Bridge continues this week with installation of traffic signs and miscellaneous roadside works. The activities may change as the weather or other conditions may permit.
Lane closures and traffic detours may be required for the safety of motorists traveling in the area. Motorists should observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs.
ROUTE 1, ASAN & AGUADA BRIDGES REHABILITATION One lane in each direction at the Aguada Bridge site are closed. Motorists should observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs. Motorists should expect intermittent traffic delays during the daylight hours while the contractor is working.
ROUTE 4, TOGCHA RIVER TO IPAN BEACH PARK Drivers should expect two-way traffic to be reduced to a flagger controlled one lane, one-way traffic during daytime road construction operations. Motorists should observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs and expect intermittent traffic delays and lane closures during the day as the contractor is working.
ROUTE 4, AGFAYAN BRIDGE REPLACEMENT (Inarajan) The contractor is working at the Agfayan Bridge located south of the Inarajan pier (facing Bear Rock). Motorists should observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs and expect intermittent traffic delays during the day. Traffic control is installed and there is a one-lane, one-way traffic at this time.
