Guam – Over 1,900 runners crossed the finish line, and over 2,000 registered, for the 9th Annual Strides for the Cure 5K race Saturday.
It was the second largest 5K of the year.
The annual event raises funds to help find cures for cancer.
Strides for the Cure Inc. has incorporated into its own non-profit organization to benefit the people of Guam.
The American Cancer Society notes that, “about one-third of the cancer deaths that occur in the US each year are due to nutrition and physical activity
factors, including excess weight.”
It is the goal of the organization to educate local residents on cancer prevention and tips to a healthier lifestyle.
All funds raised are used towards Television and Radio public awareness campaigns that run all year long to support in educating our island community with focus on awareness of cancer and living healthy and positive lives.
