Japan Club of Guam Director of Youth Affairs Daijiro Meguro says this year, the funds for the festival will go towards building a gym for the Japanese School of Guam.
Guam – Dozens of residents and visitors were at the Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park this past weekend for the Akimatsuri Japan Autumn Festival.
For over 30 years, the Guam Visitors Bureau says the annual festival has been one of Guam’s most popular and anticipated events of the year. From the food booths serving Japanese dishes, to the toys and games that are popular in Japan, to the Japanese exhibit and crafts, the event attracted locals and tourists who wish to experience authentic Japanese culture on Guam. One of the highlights of the festival is the Bon Odori, or Bon dance, which is a traditional Japanese dance that is fun and easy to learn.
