The Tiyan High Titans will soon be able to host home games on their new campus, with the ground breaking ceremony for a fully functional gymnasium held at the school this afternoon.
Guam – The Tiyan High School Titans will soon have their own 16,000 square foot gymnasium to host sports games in.
A ground breaking ceremony was held on the construction site this afternoon. Associated Body of Students President Janay Masga says having a fully functional gym will build school spirit.
“Having a gymnasium in our school means improvement and advancement in our school moral,” Masga said during the ceremony.
While the purchase of the Tiyan property drew criticism Governor Eddie Calvo took today’s ceremony as a opportunity to say it was worth every dollar.
“I do believe that our youth are priceless but that doesn’t mean that we’re gonna overspend,” the Governor said. “And for this particular facility we did not.”
According to the Governor’s Office the gym costs $14.4 Million. The construction was included in the lease to own agreement for the Tiyan property.
