With visitors from Korea making up almost half of the total arrivals to Guam, a local college is working to serve this growing tourist demographic.
Earlier today, representatives from the Guam Community College and the Korean Consulate Office gathered to sign a memorandum of understanding to designate GCC as the official administrator of the Test of Proficiency in Korean, or TOPIK, which tests competence in listening, reading, and writing in Korean.
Lim Hee-soon, Head of Mission at the Consulate of the Republic of Korea, said: “I am very pleased that GCC will administer the TOPIK next year. So I hope that GCC will make an important role in enhancing the understanding of Korean culture here as an official administrator of the TOPIK.”
The test will be administered through the college’s Hospitality and Tourism department by April 2020.
