There are only 30 days left on the speedy trial clock for Mark Torre Jr. to be taken to trial.

Trial dates have been set in preparation for the re-trial of Mark Torre Jr. the man accused in the shooting death of fellow police officer Elbert Piolo.

Superior Court Judge Michael Bordallo has set jury selection for Dec. 27. But before trial begins, the government will need to narrow down their witness list as Torre’s attorney, Jay Arriola, told the court that it was all-inclusive.

Superior Court Judge Michael Bordallo said: “Let’s come back on the 12th. I want to know what the witness list looks like and what we are doing with respect to prior testimony that has been presented and will be used.”

Bordallo has set a hearing for Dec. 12, at which time any motions will be addressed which may arise from the witness lists. He also said trial must begin before Dec. 30.
