Torres amendment takes effect 45 days prior to general election

Voters will be able to cast their ballots for the 2020 General Election as early as this Saturday, through an amendment authored by Senator Mary Camacho Torres in P.L. 35-96.

While P.L. 35-96 canceled this year’s primary, Torres extended Guam’s period for in-office absentee voting from 30 days to 45 days prior to the General Election—permitting ample time for voters to cast their ballot while reducing the number of people at the polls on Election Day. Torres also expanded in-office absentee voting to any qualified voter on Guam.

“Given the current pandemic, these protocols help ensure our citizens can exercise their right to vote, safely,” said Senator Torres, “I know the Guam Election Commission is working hard to carry out these early voting provisions and thank them for their consistent efforts to prioritize the safety of our public.”

Beginning this Saturday, September 19, 2020, early voting will be available, by appointment, at the following locations and times per the Guam Election Commission:

10:00 a.m. –   4:00 p.m.

Monday – Friday

September 21, 2020 – October 30, 2020

Voters can call #477-9791 to schedule an appointment. According to the Guam Election Commission, voter registrations will continue to be accepted online at or at one of the early voting locations above. The last day to register to vote is Friday, October 23, 2020.
