Traffic was backed up Saturday morning along southbound Marine Corps Drive as a Department of Public Works contractor installed traffic sensor loops along the Route 1/8 Intersection in Agana.
The contractor closed off one lane and said there would be intermittent lane closures and lane shifts lasting up to 4 pm.

Next weekend, on Saturday, Feb. 29, the DPW contractor will be milling and paving the northbound lanes on Route 8 toward the Route 1/8 Intersection in Agana from 6 am to 6 pm. Access to all businesses along this construction route will remain open.
The next day, Sunday, March 1, the DPW contractor will again be milling and paving, this time the southwest corner of the Route 1/8 Intersection in Agana from 6 am to 6 pm.
Access to all businesses along this construction route will again remain open.
Motorists are advised that there will be lane closures and lane shifts in the area from 6 am to 6 pm on these days and to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limits and construction signs.
The traffic signals will not be operational during construction and taking alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times is encouraged.
