Guam – The Guam Waterworks Authority says that starting today, Saturday, February 19th, traffic in and out of the Two Lover’s Point area will be monitored while contractors remove a number of chlorine tanks at the Northern Wastewater Treatment Plant.

According to a release from GWA Spokesperson Heidi Ballendorf, the tank removals will be done at night from 7 in the evening until 7 am the following morning. The removal will take several weeks to complete.

Veolia Water Guam and its contractor will be doing the work.

A release quotes Assistant GWA Manger of Safety and Compliance Paul Kemp as saying that “The removal of these tanks is important to the ongoing cleanup and maintenance work of GWA.”

Kemp said “While we will not restrict the public’s access to the Two Lovers Point area during this time we will be monitoring traffic and checking people in and out of the area.”

“We are partnering with many community and government groups in Guam in order to complete this project,” said Kemp and  “We will provide the public with ongoing updates as needed.”
