Hagatna, Guam- The Guam Masters Baseball League (GMBL) played three games on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Paseo Stadium. In the first game, the Pohnpei Masters got the 10-2 win over the Kosrae Masters. Pohnpei’s Emter Alphons went 3-for-4, scoring three runs. Pohnpei starter Pollycard Luther allowed just one run in his maximum 4.0 innings pitched giving up just three hits.
In the next game, the Triple J Blue Jays jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead after one inning of play, however, the Maimai Marlins came back in the bottom of the 4th to tie it up 5-5. Triple J’s Robbie Rabago singled in Keith Hattig in the top of the 5th to make it 6-5. The Blue Jays got two more runs in the top of the 6th and held off the Marlins for the 8-5 win. Triple J’s Russell Maratita was 3-for-3, two RBIs, and scored a run. Rabago was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Maimai’s Tommy Santos went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
In the nightcap, the Santa Rita Braves held off the Asan Rai for the 10-7 victory. After Asan had tied the game in the top of the 5th, 6-6, Santa Rita came back with four runs in the bottom of the 5th to seal the win.
The GMBL continues with a double header on Monday night, March 25, 2013 at Paseo Stadium starting at 6:00 p.m.
