Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, a local business organized a fundraiser for a cause that is set to kick off tomorrow Saturday.
The Triple J Auto Group is kicking off its Reels and Wheels drive-up movie event this Saturday, January 9th, featuring Disney & Pixar’s “Onward”.
The event is a fundraiser that will benefit the Guam Memorial Hospital Volunteers Association.
According to Kris Lujan, the VP of Marketing and Public Relations at Triple J Guam, the fundraiser is completely sold out.
Lujan said a total of 120 tickets were sold and $2,000 dollars will be donated to the GMHVA.
The event was originally scheduled for November of last year, but due to the rise of COVID-19 cases on the island, organizers postponed the event.
Those who purchased tickets in November will be able to use the same ticket for entry and must present it upon arrival.
Gates open at 5 pm and the event will start at 6:30 pm.
The drive-in movie event will be held in Harmon at the Guam Football Association grounds.
Kyle Mandapat, the host of the event, tells PNC that this is a must-see event.
“It’s going to be so much fun! The movie we will be watching is ‘Onward’ and it’s really big because this was actually one of the last movies that was released in theaters before the COVID-19 pandemic. A lot of people haven’t had the opportunity to see the movie yet, so this will be a great chance to experience it like never before on a big screen, with their families, complete comfort and safety with Triple J,” Mandapat said.
Triple J plans to host more drive-up movie events.
