Tropical storm 27W weakens slightly & still forecast to pass south of Guam

Tropical storm 27W has weakened slightly as of the National Weather Service’s 9am update. It is still forecast to pass south of Guam this (Tues) afternoon.

Guam – According to the 9am local statement from the National Weather Service, tropical storm 27W’s winds have weakened to 40 miles per hour.

A tropical storm watch remains in effect for Guam and Rota. This does not necessarily mean that Guam and Rota will receive tropical strom strength winds. It means that there is a possibility of receiving tropical storm strength winds. As of 8am the center of the storm was located near 10.3N lattitude and 144.1E longitude which is 220 miles south of Guam. Guam sits at 13.N lattitude and 144.E longitude. It is currently moving westward at 13 miles per hour and is expected to pass 200 miles southwest of Guam by noon today(Tues).
