Tropical Storm Chan-Hom Still Here Now “Drifting” in The Rota Channel

Tropical Storm Warning in Effect For Guam 

Guam – According to the Sun. 2pm update from the National Weather Service tropical storm Chan-Hom is still in the Rota channel and has not left our area yet.

 

 The NWS says that we are now experiencing tropical storm conditions on Guam. Chan-Hom’s maximum sustained winds were at 50mph. Residents in the North are reporting windy conditions. Chan-Hom is moving slowly West-Northwest at 3mph. The NWS says to expect more erratic movement from Chan-Hom over the next several hours. Guam was placed in COR4 as of 11am. The storm was expected move past Rota this morning and head West Northwest into the Philippine sea, however it slowed down and is still in our area just North of Guam and just South of Rota.

LATEST RADAR IMAGERY INDICATES THE CENTER HAS  BEEN DRIFTING WEST-NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 3 MPH THE PAST COUPLE OF  HOURS. THE MOTION IS STILL EXPECTED TO BE SOMEWHAT ERRATIC THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. CHAN-HOM WILL MAINTAIN A GENERAL HEADING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST THE NEXT FEW DAYS.  MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS REMAIN AT 50 MPH. TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS  EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 80 MILES FROM THE CENTER. CHAN-HOM IS EXPECTED TO INTENSIFY SLOWLY THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS IT MOVES OUT OVER THE PHILIPPINE SEA.
