Tropical Storm Goni is Passing 100 Miles North of Guam & In Between Rota & Tinian

Guam remains in COR2 and a tropical storm warning remains in effect for Guam Rota Tinian Saipan & adjacent Waters. A typhoon watch remains in effect for Tinian Saipan and adjacent waters. The NWS says to expect a lot of wind and rain even as the storm leaves the Marianas.

Guam – As of the Sun. 9:15am tropical cyclone update from the National Weather Service tropical storm Goni was passing in between Rota and Tinian.

 

 Guam remains in COR2 and a tropical storm warning remains in effect for Guam Rota Tinian Saipan & adjacent Waters which means there is still a possibility that these islands may still experience tropical storm strength winds. A typhoon watch remains in effect for Tinian Saipan and adjacent waters which means that there is still a possibility that these islands may still experience typhoon strength winds. However tropical storm Goni is not expected to become a typhoon until possibly this evening after it has left the Marianas. Goni’s maximum sustained winds are at 60mph. The NWS says to expect a lot of wind and rain even as Goni leaves the Marianas.

 As of 915am Sunday morning Goni was located by radar near 14.9 degrees North latitude and 144.9 degrees East longitude. This is about 100 miles North of Guam 60 miles North-Northwest of Rota 45 miles West of Tinian and 60 miles West-Southwest of Saipan. It is heading West away from the Marianas at 10 miles per hour.
