Two Armed Robberies Friday: Cashier Robbed at Gunpoint, Shot Fired; Woman Robbed at Knife Point


Guam – Guam Police received 2 reports of armed robberies Friday, one involving a knife in Dededo. The other in Barrigada where a gun was used and a shot was fired.

Barrigada Robbery:

Friday night, about 7:45pm, a man holding a silver handgun, with a brown shirt pulled over his face, entered the Route 8 Mini Mart in Barrigada.

GPD Spokeswoman Sgt. Liz Flickinger says the man fired one shot in the air. The cashier “panicked and ducked”, says Sgt. Flickinger and “the suspect grabbed” some cash, the amount of which was not revealed. He then fled on foot.

No one was injured.

The suspect is described as being possibly local and standing between 5-feet-6 and 5-feet 8-inches tall. 

The store was equipped with video surveillance camera which captured the robbery on tape, but the owners told PNC news that they had to turn the video tape over to police.
Police declined to release the video or any images from it.

Dededo Robbery:

The second armed robbery happened in Dededo Friday afternoon, about 2pm, in the parking lot of  the John B. Market.

Sgt. Flickinger says a man approached and a woman in the parking lot and threatened her with a knife, demanding that she give him her “personal belongings.”

Just what he got from the woman, is not said. The suspect fled on foot.  

The only description provided is that the man was between 5-feet 6-inches and 5-feet 8-inches tall.  The woman was not injured.

ROBBERY in the Dededo area:  John B. Market, Dededo

At about 2:00 p.m. today, Female victim (unknown age) was in the parking lot of John B Market, Dededo when an unknown male individual (description given only  5’6 – 5’8), approached her at knife point and demanded her personal belongings and fled the area.  No injuries reported.

Police were called 15 minutes later.  investigation is still ongoing.

ROBBERY in the Barrigada area, Rt. 8 Mini Mart, Barrigada

At 7:45 p.m. tonight, a female cashier was held at gunpoint where the male suspect, covering his face with a brown shirt, shot the gun in the air where the cashier panicked and ducked.  The suspect grabbed an undetermined amount of money and fled on foot towards the rear side of the store area.  Police is still investigating the incident.  No injuries reported.
