Typhoon Nangka Heading Towards Alamagan

Typhoon Watch For Agrihan, Pagan and Alamagan Tropical Storm Warning For Tinian & Saipan

Guam – Typhoon Nangka is heading towards the Northern Mariana island of Alamagan.

 According to the Thurs. 2pm update from the National Weather Service the typhoon is on track to pass far North of Tinian and Saipan but close to Alamagan. A typhoon warning remains in effect for Agrihan, Pagan and Alamagan. This means typhoon conditions are expected in those islands very soon or they are occurring A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Tinian Saipan and their coastal waters. Tropical storm conditions are occurring in those islands and should continue through this afternoon.

 The typhoon was located at 17.2 degrees North and 146.5 degrees East. Maximum sustained winds are at 145mph. Nangka is moving West Northwest at 12mph.

AN EYE PASSAGE IS POSSIBLE OVER ALAMAGAN THIS AFTERNOON.  MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO 145 MPH.
