U16 Women’s Soccer In Manila

Guam- The Guam Under-16 National Team landed in Manila, Philippines today and are now getting ready for the 2011 AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers slated to kick off tomorrow.

Of the 17 teams involved in the tournament, the bottom nine teams are divided into two groups. Guam is in Group A along with Singapore, Vietnam and hosts Philippines. Group B features India, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Bahrain and Iran. The teams play each team in their group once and the winner of each group advances to the second round.

Round 2, should Guam advance, is scheduled for December 3-12 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Thailand, Myanmar and Chinese Taipei will join the two 1st round group winners, with the teams playing another single round-robin format to decide the 2nd round group winner.

The top team from Round 2 advances to the championships – which includes the top-ranked teams of Korea Republic, DPR Korea, China, Australia and Japan.

Sunday, Oct. 17 – Guam vs. Philippines, 11 a.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 19 – Guam vs. Singapore, 5 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 22 – Guam bye
Sunday, Oct. 24 – Guam vs. Vietnam, 11 a.m.
