Unexploded ordnance found across Okkodo High School; all-clear given


Around 3 p.m., the Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) received a report of a found unexploded ordnance (UXO) located on Route 3, across Okkodo High School.

The all-clear was issued at 6:15 p.m. for the reported ordnance. The area resumed normal operations after all precautions were taken to ensure the safety of the public and responders involved.

The Guam Police Department was on the scene and the Guam Fire Department had been notified.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was also requested.

There were no evacuations or road closures.

GHS/OCD remind residents and visitors to practice the “3Rs of Explosive Safety” when any UXO or munition is encountered:

  • Recognize – when you may have encountered a munition and that munitions are dangerous.
  • Retreat – do not approach, touch, move, or disturb it, but carefully leave the area.
  • Report – call 911 and advise of what you saw and where you saw it.
