All-clear issued after unexploded ordnance found at construction site in Toto

Around 3:25 p.m., the Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) received a report of a found unexploded ordnance (UXO) located at the Ironwood Estates construction site in Toto.

The Guam Fire Department and the Guam Police Department were notified and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was requested.

The area was evacuated and there were no road closures.

The all-clear was issued at 3:57 p.m. and the area resumed normal operations. All precautions were taken to ensure the safety of the public and responders involved.

GHS/OCD remind residents and visitors to practice the “3Rs of Explosive Safety” when any UXO or munition is encountered:

* Recognize – when you may have encountered a munition and that munitions are dangerous.
* Retreat – do not approach, touch, move, or disturb it, but carefully leave the area.
* Report – call 911 and advise of what you saw and where you saw it.
