To support the island’s emergency responders, organizers of the United Airlines Guam Marathon donated equipment to the Guam Police and Fire Departments.
In a ceremony held recently, the organizers of the United Airlines Guam Marathon donated supplies to the members of the Guam Police and Fire Departments, which have been partners of the event for several years.
The donated equipment included duty belts for the Guam Police Department.
According to GPD Chief Stephen Ignacio, the agency will continue to ensure the safety of the event and the community.
“Doing our part as the Guam Police Department is ensuring safety and security and making sure we have a safe event because we want this event to continue to thrive and grow and promote our island,” Ignacio said.
Several tourniquets, medic backpacks, and trauma kits were given to the Guam Fire Department.
According to Roderick Meno, a member of GFD’s Search and Rescue Unit, these supplies would help improve the emergency care provided by the agency.
“With all these investors for this event, we want to thank them and the fire department will provide expedient emergency care for everybody involved,” Meno said.
The United Airlines Guam Marathon will take place on April 5 at the Governor Jose Flores Memorial Park.
