Guam – United Airlines welcomed the first charter flight to Guam from Dalian, China last night, in line with the airline’s continued efforts to expand charter operations from mainland China to Guam to meet growing demand. Upon arrival the 144 passengers aboard received a warm Micronesian welcome by United’s local team and officials from the Guam Visitors Bureau.
United will operate an additional charter flight from Dalian to Saipan later this month, offering a total of 15 roundtrip charter flights from four Chinese cities during the peak 2012 Chinese New Year season, including from Shanghai (PVG), Beijing (PEK), Hangzhou (HGH) and Dalian (DLC) . All flights are operated by United’s fleet of Boeing 737-700/800 aircraft.
“We are excited to add Dalian to our growing list of cities in mainland China from which we service non-stop charter flights to Guam. This is our fifth consecutive year to operate charter flights from mainland China to Guam, and United is committed to finding more opportunities for growth by working closely with our travel agency partners and Guam Visitors Bureau in China,” said Barry Bergmann, United’s managing director for Micronesia and Southeast Asia. “United continues to promote Guam as an attractive beach destination to travelers from China, which represents one of the world’s fastest-growing markets for leisure travel.”
