University of Guam Men’s and Women’s Soccer Team hosting open tryouts

2017 Tryouts UOG Head Coach, Rod Hidalgo.

The University of Guam Men’s and Women’s Soccer Team will be hosting open tryouts for full-time UOG students to try to become a Triton soccer player on August 6-7 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm each day at the UOG Soccer Field, behind the UOG Calvo Field House.

Students must be full-time (at least 12 credits) and have at least 2.00 GPA. First time freshmen must have a 2.50 GPA from high school and first time transfer students must have a 2.00 GPA from their previous college. All students must be full-time for the fall of 2018 at UOG to play.

It is possible to earn a scholarship to play soccer for UOG, but the player must be a superior player who can earn playing time on the team. Just making the team does not mean that the player will receive a scholarship.

The UOG Men’s Soccer Team was 14-5-1 for 2017-18 and finished 3rd in the Guam Football Association’s Budweiser Premier League. The UOG Women’s Soccer Team won the GFA Women’s D2 League in the fall of 2017 but will be moving up to the GFA Women’s D1 League this fall.

Practice begins in late August for UOG and the seasons for both teams begin in September. For more information, please contact Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach, Rod Hidalgo at (671)788-5714 by telephone call, text or WhatsApp.or email him at
