The University of Guam was named the governor’s COVID-19 hero today.
During her daily news conference, the governor recognized UOG for making more than 200 mail deliveries every day to health care workers and volunteers who are staffing public health sites around the island.
“This effort initially started with helping nurses manning the medical triage hotline. But they have expanded to helping our public health teams at the Port, Airport, and Health Center. UOG is also hosting a telethon this Wednesday to raise funds for emergency medical personnel assisting with COVID-19. Thank you UOG for your help for being a COVID Hero.”
The governor is encouraging residents to use the hashtag #COVIDHeroesGU on their social media posts to highlight individuals, groups, and businesses who are stepping up to assist COVID-19 response efforts.
The governor will announce the heroes during her daily news conference and feature these heroes on her FaceBook page.
