The UOG Charter Day opening ceremonies begin at 9 am and activities run throughout the day until 5 pm.
Guam – The University of Guam is celebrating their 48th Charter Day tomorrow.
The theme this year is “Triton Spirit: One University, Many Voices”. Charter Day is the largest public event at the University with nearly 5,000 people visiting the campus throughout the day. This year, Charter Day will feature activities and events including campus tours, presentations from the Marine Lab and WERI, the Annual College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Research Conference, the CHamoru Language Competition at the Calvo Field House, agricultural displays, ROTC tactical demonstrations, Chemistry Titration High School Competition and more.
UOG President Dr. Robert Underwood says it’s not just a celebration for the university, it’s also a great recruitment tool. He says, “We want everyone to come up. There will be the usual games, booths, academic activities, the Fino’ Chamorro which will bring thousands of young people to our campus and it’s not only an opportunity for the university to shine, it’s also an opportunity for fourth graders, fifth graders, and so on to think about their future. So it’s the greatest recruitment tool. We have so many people say when we ask them how did you learn about UOG ‘well I went to Charter Day and I said I wanted to go there.”
