Guam – The US Department of Interior Office of Insular Affairs announced earlier this week that nearly $1.4M in funding was authorized for improvements at the University of Guam Field House.
No one is more delighted about this news than Field House Director Bob Pelkey. “It’s exciting,” Pelkey said. “Improvements include roof repair and a much needed overhaul or replacement of the air-conditioning units. We will also renovate the weight room, bathrooms, and locker rooms. Perhaps, if there is enough funding, we will re-seal the gym floor.”

Pelkey added, “Those who patronize the Field House, which includes just about everyone on the island at one point or another, will appreciate the improvements to Guam’s largest indoor sporting facility. Our students, as well as our Adventure Sports Summer Campers, the volleyball and basketball leagues we host, will appreciate the renovations. The dozens of community activities hosted at the Field House from graduations to concerts will be enhanced by these facility improvements. We appreciate the support from the Department of Interior and Assistant Secretary Tony Babauta.”
