“For UOG, we are celebrating Giving Tuesday all today. And we’re accepting [donations] through the end of the year,” – Melanie Mendiola, Executive Director of UOG Endowment Foundation.
Guam – Today is Giving Tuesday and this year, the University of Guam is asking alumni and stakeholders to consider giving back to education.
“G is for Giving” is the new campaign that UOG launched for Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity that falls on the first Tuesday after the Thanksgiving holiday.
UOG is accepting donations of any size via cash, check, or credit card until the campaign deadline of December 31st.
Melanie Mendiola, the Executive Director of the UOG Endowment Foundation shared with PNC why the new campaign is perfect for alumni.
“People are giving to their favorite charities specifically for Giving Tuesday. It’s sort of like in line with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday is a great part of the holiday season…For UOG, we are celebrating Giving Tuesday all today. And we’re accepting [donations] through the end of the year,” Mendiola said.
According to executive director, this is UOG’s first year participating in Giving Tuesday. She says their goal is to raise at least $28K for student scholarships.
“The reason why we’re trying to raise $28K is because we’re trying to raise 28 $1K scholarships for the various programs at the University of Guam,” she explains.
