Guam – Kathreen Yanit, University of Guam Mathematics major, has been accepted to the undergraduate summer program, “Research in Industrial Projects for Students (RIPS)” at the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics on the UCLA campus from June 22 – August 22, 2014.
The RIPS program provides an opportunity for high-achieving undergraduate students to work in teams on a real-world research project.
“We are proud of Kathreen’s achievement,” said Dr. Grazyna Badowski, UOG Associate Professor of Mathematics. “This program is extremely competitive and hard to get into since it accepts applicants not only from the United States but also from international universities.”
Yanit is is the second UOG math student accepted to the program. In 2012, UOG math student Yan Dai successfully completed the RIPS program. For more information on RIPS, visit www.ipam.ucla.edu/rips. For more information on the UOG Math Program, visit www.uog.edu/cnas.
