Guam – UOG President Dr. Robert Underwood has issued a statement of condolence for Alex Miralles, the 19 year old UOG student who was swept off a reef Saturday during a school Field Trip at Anao Point, Yigo.
Miralles was among a group of 57 people on the UOG field trip. He was the only one to be swept into water.
Rescue divers recovered his body shortly after 1 pm Saturday.
In his statement, Dr. Underwood says:
“It is with deep sadness that I learned Saturday of the drowning of Alexander John Miralles, a UOG student, at Anao Point while on a field trip with a UOG history class. We will conduct a full review of the matter beginning today. Once details of the incident are known, we will take appropriate action. On behalf of the entire University community, I express my sincere condolences to the family.”
