Guam – The University of Guam Spring 2013 Commencement Ceremonies will recognize 315 prospective graduates, the most in a single Commencement since UOG established Fall and Spring ceremonies in 1999.

Spring 2013 Commencement Ceremonies will be held at 2pm on Sunday, May 26, in the UOG Field House.  The public is invited to attend.

Combined with the graduates from Fall 2012, UOG will have 521 graduates for Academic Year 2012-2013, making it one of the largest graduating classes in University history.

Of the Spring 2013 graduates, 82 will receive graduate degrees, and 233 will receive undergraduate degrees. Among the undergraduate degrees are 50 business majors, 40 education majors and 30 nursing majors.

The Commencement will feature keynote speaker Henry Tan, who will also be receiving an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.  He graduated from UOG with a BA in 1976 and earned an MBA in 1980. As the Chief Executive Officer of Luen Thai Holdings, which is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, he oversees businesses which generate over $1 billion a year in sales and employ 42,000 people.

“Henry Tan is an excellent example of how our University Alumni find success and contribute back to our island and our University,” said UOG President Dr. Robert A. Underwood.  “We are honored to have him speak to our graduates.”
