Jobseekers on island have two more opportunities to speak with employers at the University of Guam’s 2020 Job Fair.
128 people attended the first session of the virtual job fair on Wednesday, seeking to fill positions from 10 employers such as the FBI, Joint Region Marianas, and the Guam Army National Guard.
Because this is the first time the fair has gone online, Manny Hechanova and Sallie McDonald from UOG explain how the online sessions will be held.
Hechanova, who is the Interim Chief Information Officer – Office of Information Technology, said: “When they come into the main room, they’re going to see a list of all the break rooms that are assigned to each of the employers. And they just have to have an idea of where they would like to go. In this digital world, they need to be prepared for this online environment. So dress properly and be in an area that’s safe to be participating in so they can hear you clearly.”
Sallie McDonald, Program Coordinator – Career Development Office, said: “When they asked about resumes, what I have asked them to do is to have it ready on their system. So when they get into the break room and the employers ask, they can send them at the tip of their finger through email.”
The next session for UOG’s virtual job fair will be held at 10 am next Wednesday, June 17. Employers and participants can register for free at URL.UOG.EDU/2020JOBFAIR.
