UOG to hold virtual commencement ceremony on Sunday

The University of Guam will hold its virtual commencement ceremony this Sunday for the fall class of 2020. The commencement exercise will feature the return of a respected alumnus.

Former UOG 2006 Valedictorian Dr. Edison P. Manaloto will be a keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony

Manaloto returned to Guam to work as a medical doctor for Guam Regional Medical City.

The virtual event will also have a special recognition of two honorary degree recipients.

Rosalia Fejeran Mateo, also known as Mama Chai, will be recognized for her work as a master traditional healer for 64 years. She has healed thousands of clients suffering from skin problems, respiratory issues, pain, infertility, and more through herbal medicine and massage.

The other recipient, Rlene S. Steffy, will be receiving an honorary Doctor of Human Letters Degree. Steffy has been a mass communication specialist for 42 years. She recently documented her expertise and technique in the “How to Conduct Oral History Interviews” guide for the Northern Marianas Humanities Council.

The UOG virtual commencement ceremony will be streamed on UOG’s Facebook page tomorrow, Sunday, December 27 at 3 pm.
