UOG’s Paulino Gets AACR Award to Attend American Cancer Research Meeting

Guam – Yvette Paulino, PhD and faculty member at the University of Guam has received an award from the National Cancer Institute’s Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities.

The award is the “AACR Minority-Serving Institution Faculty Scholar in Cancer Research Award.”

It will help support her attendance at the American Association for Cancer Research annual meeting in March in Chicago.

“My research goal is to help reduce cancer and other health disparities in Guam and neighboring islands in Micronesia,” said Paulino.

“Populations in this region of the world were underrepresented in cancer research for many years. As I build on my current research, I hope to one day get populations in this region represented in long-term epidemiologic studies such as a cohort, to better understand the cancer health disparities.”
